At its peak, Borralha was one of Europe’s largest tungsten producers, employing thousands of workers and serving as an economic cornerstone for northern Portugal. The district contains an extensive network of underground workings, historic processing facilities, and well-developed infrastructure, reflecting decades of successful mining. Today, Borralha remains a globally recognized tungsten district with substantial remaining mineral potential, offering the opportunity to redevelop a world-class critical mineral asset using modern exploration, mining, and environmental standards.
